The Adirondack Regional Tourism Council (ARTC) has entered into a co-branding partnership with W.L. Gore & Associates (Gore), maker of GORE-TEX® fabrics.

Plattsburgh, N.Y., February 1, 2007 – The Adirondack Regional Tourism Council (ARTC) has entered into a co- branding partnership with W.L. Gore & Associates (Gore), maker of GORE-TEX® fabrics. Gore engineered the original breathable, windproof, and durably waterproof fabric. GORE-TEX® fabrics are used in high-end outdoor apparel, including footwear and accessories.

The partnership will include product placements in 2007 ARTC publications, including Adirondack Great Walks and Day Hikes, Adirondack Waterways, Adirondack Lodging and Campgrounds and the Adirondack snowmobile map as well as advertisements, a promotional give-away, an on-line contest, and digital marketing. The Adirondack snowmobile map is now in distribution with additional ARTC publications scheduled for release in March 2007. The hiking publication includes walks and hikes grouped by area on 15 different maps. Fifteen footwear tips are included on each map as it relates to particular hikes in the Adirondacks and features 15 different footwear brands. In February, an online, interactive contest will kick-off. Visitors will be able to submit photos in three categories. Prizes will include an Adirondack getaway and head-to-toe GORE-TEX® products.

The Adirondacks and GORE-TEX® brand association is perfect since the region is synonymous with outdoor challenges like hiking, skiing and hunting,” explained Ann Melious, executive director, ARTC. “We’re pleased to be associated with a highly-regarded market leader like the GORE-TEX® brand, and to be able to expand the range of ARTC’s advertising as a result.” The destination marketing consortium advertises in national and Northeast regional markets to attract visitors and revenues to Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Lewis, St. Lawrence and Warren Counties, as well as the Town of Webb in Herkimer County.
