Greetings to our Canadian friends and everyone in the North Country. By popular demand, I present you with the information you have been searching for.
Here’s the beta for the Plattsburgh beach which is purported to be the largest freshwater sand beach in the USA:
Cumberland Bay State Park
Beach: June 25 – September 4 2012
Day Use 8am – 10pm
$7 per Car – $5 after 4pm
Plattsburgh City Beach
Day Use 11am – 7pm
$5 US/CAN per car
Town/City Residents Free
Open June 16 through September 3, 2012
These are really part of the same beach, one side operated by NY State and the other by the City of Plattsburgh. If I had to pick, I’d go for Cumberland Bay, only so I can use my Empire Pass. These are minutes from both downtown Plattsburgh and the Upper Cornelia commercial district.
Best place for lodging close to these beaches is in Plattsburgh. Almost everything is located around Exit 37 off the Northway. I know every place, in some cases too well. They’re mostly branded properties, I’d recommend using that as your first guide to quality. Nuff said.

Bonjour,
I want the documentation for location bed and breakfast and beach plage for Plattsburg at august 8th for 2 days.
Thank you
Nicole, I suppose you could contact the “official” tourism office for Clinton County:
The Adirondack Coast – Lake Champlain – New York
Hi! Thanks for the update. What is the address for the municipal beach so that I can input it into my GPS?
Thank you.
Here’s a map of Lake Champlain Beaches.
Regarding an address for Plattsburgh City Beach, try: beach rd, 12901

Hi,
We are from Montreal and we wonder if it is essential to bring our passports when we pass through customs?! Even if you go to Plattsburgh beach for a couple hours?!
Thanks for your help
Yes, all travelers now need passports:

Yes, there are picnic tables and grills at both the City Beach and State Park.
Hi, we’d like to know if the beach is opened for swimming. I read up about the water being contaminated due to a storm a few weeks ago…has that been resolved? Is the water safe to swim in now?
24/08/2012
@lina
Yes, the beaches are currently open.
