I totally agree. Cell coverage is inefficient here. I'm a huge lover of FREE WiFi.

The Adirondacks needs more WiFi. For example Newcomb, Lake Harris has cable internet running right through town, getting WiFi into the park would be no big deal. People are looking for a mix of things today. For example I write and outdoor wiki website and other columns and need access. Stopping at McDonald's or someone neighborhood to update a web page or send email is getting old. Long Lake is another good example, you want people into your restaurants, offer free WiFi and they will bring their laptops and eat dinner or lunch.

Great post! Glad to see you didn't leave the blogosphere for a life among the grizzlies in the forest.

I really love your ideas #2 and #6. The world is changing and the old ways of marketing (newspapers, brochures, and even books) are fading fast.

One thing missing- and this is from a real tourist who (as you know) wafts in and out of various tourist places around the state-- beef up customer service. Up, up, up. All the trails, fishing, and amusement delights in the world will flop without <strike>good</strike> enthusiastic rangers, guides, and tourpros.
