the f***ing scumbags never quit
Everyone I know will tell you I hate to see resources wasted. Especially cash. In other words, I’m cheap. A scumbag?
For my DMO readers, I’m planning a series:
“CHEAP DMO – Destination Marketing for Everyone”.
Stay tuned and send content suggestions.
In the meantime, I was scanning some stuff and notice that Seth had mentioned Flickr and how great it was for both ideas and images. Well, of course, I agree 100%. Not really news there though for most power internet users.
Then, I get a ping on my professional vanity search with this headline:
man & nature # 3 ~ the f***ing scumbags never quit
Ok, normally I’d think “Splog” and skip it, but the weird lowercase and tilde made me look twice. Gads, the Photo-Poet feed also has the same headline! I’m one of the unwashed masses unable to appreciate art (short for Arthur?) and hardly ever click through. Not having the pictures render in my feedreader and only being able to read “embiggen” probably doesn’t help either. I morbidly subscribe to every Adirondack blog. Since I work for the evil entity in question, I had to join the conversation. Seems I’m a scumbag with a ku-ku hex destined to beg on the streets of … Ausable Forks? No offense Ausable Forkers. Anyway, here’s the first Cheap DMO tip.
Are you a Destination Marketer? Do you need some pictures for promotion and marketing?
I’ll bet you’re tired of paying huge professional photographer fees and expenses only to get a dozen usable photos. Why not simply tap into the power of the people?
Check out Flickr right away. Using the Advanced Search, you can search for images you can use for FREE. Just plug in your desired search terms and make sure you check the Creative Commons filter and either/both “Find content to use commercially” and “Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon“. Here’s a link to all the Adirondack pictures freely usable by anyone, anytime. Enjoy.

Excellent post, excellent thoughts, and excellent work, Scumbag or not. I guess I have also joined that club. Again, great post. I’m a big fan of flickr and creative commons.
