Uh, didn’t I hear something in TV about being aware of thin ice during the latest warm spell? Oh well, might as well erect an installation and add some burning candles to help along the melting…[grin]
Seriously, good video and shots. I take it that this is your work, Doug. Not easy shooting in low light.
Yeah, my shots. I didn’t really feel like going, but I suppose it was worth documenting this very unusual thing.
The water is only a few feet deep there and we had to cross some open melt at the shore… in the dark. The event had to be canceled due to wind the previous weekend. The week before that, Berry asked to borrow my drill “to drill holes in the ice”. I’m like, “huh” “why”?
I’m sure the “installation” was cleaned up, maybe a few burnt wicks remained. Probably emitted some Greenhouse Gases. Likely, the firing of all those tiles was the most impactful part of the project.
If it makes you feel any better, almost all the participants were hippyish folks.
Hey, if I had known about it, I would’ve gone — as long as the ice supported me.
Hippies? Like, man, was it an “Ice-In?”
You got some good shots, especially of an unusual event. Let’s face it: for many people in the North Country “installation” only refers to getting set up with cable or satellite TV. [grin]
"Recreator is the story of three teenage hikers who discover an abandoned laboratory in the woods and accidentally trigger a deadly experiment that creates their duplicates – clones who are stronger, faster, smarter, and plot to kill the teenagers and assume their identities."
I thought she was a US Citizen? "Nelson crosses the border several times a month to visit relatives, friends and her family's second home, using her Canadian passport to leave the country and her U.S. passport to get back in."
"Images of the fires that are engulfing the surrounding forests of the Wemotaci reserve, 100km north of La Tuque in Northern Quebec, on Saturday, May 29, 2010."
"Last night there was the most wonderful sunset at nine o'clock. The sky was all the beautiful shades of pink; then the dark mountains and then the reflection in the water."
"The increase in occupancy tax is a windfall for the county marketing agency ROOST, as 95 percent of the tax on hotel rooms goes directly to the organization for operational costs."
"Each of those Essex County communities has its own unique set of community goals, needs, concerns and tourism opportunities." - Marketing by Committee....wheeeee!
"We provide our Twitter followers with trendy and appealing topics to engage their interest in New York and excite them to travel throughout our 11 vacation regions."
Love the photos and the video! Thanks for posting

Was this installation environmentally friendly?

Next time I’ll holler if there’s similar.
That was an interesting thing you guys made there. But what was the purpose? What was its meaning? Was it just for fun?
Art=Fun, yup.
