Visitor Information for the Plattsburgh Beach 2015

June 20th, 2007 · 20 Comments · Adirondack Life

Greetings to our Canadian friends and everyone in the North Country. By popular demand, I present you with the information you have been searching for.

Here’s the information for the Plattsburgh beach on Cumberland Bay – Lake Champlain, purported to be one of the largest freshwater sand beaches in the USA:

Cumberland Bay State Park
Beach: June 20 – September 7 2015
Day Use 11am – 7pm
$7 per Car – $5 after 4pm

Plattsburgh City Beach
Day Use 9am – 9pm – weather permitting
M-F $6, Weekends $7 – US/CAN per car
Daily $4 After 4pm
Town/City Residents – Free
Open: June 13 – September 7 2015

These are really part of the same beach, one side operated by NY State and the other by the City of Plattsburgh. If I had to pick, I’d go for Cumberland Bay, only so I can use my Empire Pass. These are minutes from both downtown Plattsburgh and the Upper Cornelia commercial district.

Best place for lodging close to these beaches is in Plattsburgh.

Almost everything is located around Exit 37 off the Northway. I know every place, in some cases too well. They’re mostly branded properties, I’d recommend using that as your first guide to quality. Nuff said.

Kids Love Michigans and Scary Stories

May 17th, 2007 · No Comments · Adirondack Life

Will Durant rented a place on Raquette Lake. In the heart of the Adirondacks. During Halloween season. But something is amiss in this place. Halloween candy isn’t for sale. Children are less than eager to trick-or-treat. The townspeople say that years ago, someone had the bad idea of taking a walk through a local cemetery…

Adirondack Nightmare: A Spooky Tale in the North CountryThis fun, quick-read kids’s book also features three delicious and original Adirondack recipes, including the best michigan sauce recipe you’ve ever had. Yummm. You do know what a michigan is, don’t you? No, no, not the state. The food, silly! If you have never tasted a michigan, you simply must buy this book and make one (or two…or three…). WARNING: You’ll be hooked forever.
