I love this mountain; first Adirondack mountain I climbed when I move here.
Plus, the history of the villages that surround this peak is hugely interesting for me. One of my best friends now lives at the location of the former homestead of Nathaniel Lyon.
Looks like you had a good day for it. Where is Lyon, I have not heard of it?
That’s one of the few towers I have left, can’t wait to try the new trail. Glad to see the tower is climbable!
Jonathan, my post has a link to a Google Map of the location:
Lyon Mountain – Hiking the New Trail
Jackie,
There was a section along the new trail yesterday about 2/3rds of the way up that was full of those Painted Trilliums.
The tower is in good shape and the views are awesome. Well, except for the wind towers in Altona. I’m going to post a couple of follow-up pano shots.
What a great view!
What an amazing view.
Simply stunning.
Pretty awesome. Gonna have to work my way up and tackle Lyon later on at some point. View down is astounding.
This is amazing. I want to go there.
