…A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTH COUNTRY FROM EARLY SUNDAY MORNING INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING… .A LOW PRESSURE AREA MOVING NORTHEAST ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY SATURDAY NIGHT WILL WEAKEN AND THEN REDEVELOP ALONG THE MID ATLANTIC COAST EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THIS LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL MOVE NORTHEAST AND INTENSIFY RAPIDLY ON SUNDAY…REACHING THE GULF OF MAINE SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS RAPIDLY DEVELOPING WINTER STORM WILL BRING HEAVY SNOW AND PERIODS OF SLEET TO THE REGION SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT. SNOWFALL WILL GENERALLY RANGE FROM 10 TO 20 INCHES ACROSS THE AREA…WITH THE HIGHER SNOWFALL AMOUNTS LIKELY OVER THE ADIRONDACKS AND SAINT LAWRENCE VALLEY…WHERE ISOLATED AREAS MAY HAVE 2 FEET OF SNOWFALL. THE SNOW MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SLEET ACROSS VERMONT AND PARTS OF THE NORTHERN ADIRONDACKS AND SOUTHERN SAINT LAWRENCE COUNTY. THE BEST CHANCE FOR SLEET IS ACROSS RUTLAND AND WINDSOR COUNTIES. AREAS WHICH HAVE SLEET MAY HAVE LOWER STORM TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS. IN ADDITION…GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS DEVELOPING AS THE LOW MOVES OUT OF THE REGION WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW…WHICH WILL MAKE THIS STORM SYSTEM EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE RAPIDLY ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY ON SUNDAY AND DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. PERSONS ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY SHOULD TAKE THE NECESSARY ACTIONS AND PREPARE FOR HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING CONDITIONS.

Yeah, 12″ in Plattsburgh, according to the news guy. Only 11.5″ in Saranac Lake, that seems odd to have less. I only had to shovel twice yesterday and this morning. If/when the wind starts to whip up, the drifts are going to be crazy. Already there are sections of the Northway between Beekmantown and Plattsburgh that are treacherous.
