Biking for a Good Cause

March 27th, 2009 · No Comments · Destination Marketing

Have you met Nathan Winters?  Well I happened to run across him ….on Twitter. Kind of an interesting marketing case study.  You see, I followed VermontTourism cuz they are across The Lake and we are Brothers-in-Arms.

This is my response to his biking route query:

@tourpro Here is my basic route. If you can help that would be AWESOME! http://tinyurl.com/c75mzq

First, you have to cross Lake Champlain.

Sidestepping Snakes at Split Rock

June 3rd, 2008 · 17 Comments · Adirondack Life

We moved here in 1994. That’s when I first started wandering around in the woods around here. Lot’s of things you hear about, read about, and talk about. Adirondack Rattlesnakes – it just sounds cool. Right? Who really believes that rattlesnakes could exist in a place that is nearly frozen 6-months of the year? You will.

Visitor Information for the Plattsburgh Beach 2015

June 20th, 2007 · 20 Comments · Adirondack Life

Greetings to our Canadian friends and everyone in the North Country. By popular demand, I present you with the information you have been searching for.

Here’s the information for the Plattsburgh beach on Cumberland Bay – Lake Champlain, purported to be one of the largest freshwater sand beaches in the USA:

Cumberland Bay State Park
Beach: June 20 – September 7 2015
Day Use 11am – 7pm
$7 per Car – $5 after 4pm

Plattsburgh City Beach
Day Use 9am – 9pm – weather permitting
M-F $6, Weekends $7 – US/CAN per car
Daily $4 After 4pm
Town/City Residents – Free
Open: June 13 – September 7 2015

These are really part of the same beach, one side operated by NY State and the other by the City of Plattsburgh. If I had to pick, I’d go for Cumberland Bay, only so I can use my Empire Pass. These are minutes from both downtown Plattsburgh and the Upper Cornelia commercial district.

Best place for lodging close to these beaches is in Plattsburgh.

Lake Champlain Beaches

Almost everything is located around Exit 37 off the Northway. I know every place, in some cases too well. They’re mostly branded properties, I’d recommend using that as your first guide to quality. Nuff said.
