Recent events on the Adirondack Northway have prompted much debate regarding personal vs. state responsibility on our public roadways. Joe posts pictures of the new signage leading to the system of roads involved in the James Kim tragedy. I propose we install one of these at every onramp entrance.

Update 2/16/07: Our most recent accident on the Northway occurred on Wednesday, February 14th during the height of the largest storm of the year. This was well predicted. Again, the lack of cell phone coverage is being blamed for this death.
A recent accident on the Northway has the Orthodox Jewish community in an uproar. Many don’t know it, but there is a huge amount of traffic between the NY metro area and orthodox communities in Quebec. Check out some of these comments:

Investigators Search Northway For Evidence In Murder Case

My morning commute was somewhat notable. At least 4-5 agencies, numerous personnel were doing a search in the median and side of the highway. Looking for evidence. They are in the woods now behind the Welcome Center, wonder if they’ll find my geocache?
