Yup, for anyone who doesn’t know it, we have our own debate about a proposed WalMart. It’s not like we don’t have Wal-Marts around here, just that this one is behind the “Blue Line” and will be located in the “All American” Village of Saranac Lake. The debate has been strong and vocal at times. There is even a blog dedicated to opposing the development. I’ve sure got mixed feelings about this.

Spring conditions reign in the North Country. Recent rains have not been enough to call for a formal mud advisory, but there are still concerns regarding trail conditions. Many Canadians have been observed heading South and recent strengthening of the Loonie has everyone looking for a big rush. In anticipation of a busy couple of weekends, the Region 5 NYS DEC has targeted Canadian traffic with some general reminders in regards to hiking and camping in the Adirondacks. I think this is a good bit to spread around in general.
