Lone Blogger Recruits Army in Fight Against State

Last week I mentioned that Lance Dutson is being sued by Warren Kramer Paino Advertising for his revealing analysis of the Maine Office of Tourism‘s advertising practices. Well, what started as a lone blogger ruminating about Google Adwords, has now become a full-fledged internet battle between the blogosphere and Big Business/Govt. Now that the antique media has gotten hold of the story, we are about to see some really exciting and interesting developments.

Tourism Marketing Critic Sued

Anyone interested in tourism marketing, the internet, and Freedom of Speech will be interested to know that Lance Dutson of “Pay-per-Gate” is now being sued by the Maine Office of Tourism‘s advertising agency. Apparently Warren Kremer Paino Advertising doesn’t take kindly to any criticism of its work. Check out the whole story at Maine Web Report.

Adirondack Hiking Guide Breaks into Top 100

Squidoo LogoMaybe I’m on to something. The Adirondack Hiking Guide was at #101 yesterday. This morning it is now #83! This is with practically no SEO other than a few inbound links. Heck it hasn’t even been rated by anyone. Cool. I wonder what would happen if someone actually gave it a rating? Of my several lenses, I have to say that next to Birding, this one has been something I have put a modicum of effort into creating. The Squidoo Lens is not a revolutionary idea, it’s more like a collection of good ideas rolled into one web service.
