Update: Comfort Inn gets OK for rebuild
Comfort Inn Complex to Reopen by Summer
Comfort Inn lawsuit filed
So, our routine trip to the hardware store was interupted by FIRE. According to Dwight, the cook at Perkins, the fire started in the pool/sauna area after some type of power surge. When we arrived on the scene, only the southern end of the complex was noticeably burning (Huge flames leaping into the air). Soon we saw emergency response from Keeseville, Saranac, Chazy, Beekmantown…. Despite their efforts, the fire quickly spread to the lobby area and finally all the through Legends (the bar) and into Perkins. I’d say the whole place is done.
Here’s a quick-look, a video, and a slideshow, more pictures after the jump:

You have the best photos of this event. We ate breakfast at Perkins and must have left only 30 minutes before the fire started. Unfortunately, I think it was our last Perkins breakfast.

from the latest news, I guess everyone made it out safe and no injuries!
I’d like to see a Bonefish Grill or Macaroni Grill take the place of Perkins.

I worked in housekeeping and it was awful, but luckily we were able to get everyone out of the hotel unharmed.

Yes, this was a disaster averted. Imagine if this happened just 12 hours later…

We just left Perkins with our family about 2 minutes before it started. I hope it wasn’t our last meal, we eat there every week. We watched from front row as it went from a small fire to a massive one in a matter of 15 minutes. Thank God no one was hurt.

I think I’d rather have a good Mexican restaurant.
I’m going to try the hardware store again. Let’s see what the morning looks like…

It is a sad thing to have this happen to such a fine restaurant and motel. I hope Terry can rebuild and get those people employed ASAP. My heart goes out to the employees and the Terry Meyron family!

Wow… nice blog post. I’ve been trying to find a decent video/pictures about this and you have it all. I’m so shocked that this happened… I haven’t been to the Comfort Inn in months but I did love going. It sucks that all of this happened right before the holidays and right after all of the additions were put in.
