Doing the 46, During the 46-46-46

So I get this Tweet today:

Elevate Your Rate w/the 46 Adirondacks High Peaks: Starting 2day we’ will match R rates 2 the elevations for 46 Days http://yttwt.com/32wqq

I’m thinking that someone could theoretically climb the 46 relevant daily peaks during this special. Not only that, you could easily also add 46 Pints and 46 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches.

So really, it should be “Doing the 46-46-46, During the 46-46-46.

Lodge v. Inn – Close Battle Mirror Lake Wins

January 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Destination Marketing

I know all you jet-setting leisure travelers have been waiting all year for The List to come out – well, here it is:

T+L 500 World’s Best Hotel 2009

Lake Placid - View from the Lake Placid Lodge

Lake Placid - View from the Lake Placid Lodge

These sorts of places, even if they were within my meager budget, would not be my choice for a travel experience.  But that’s just me.  I have no idea how these were chosen or if the voting is Carter-approved, but I’d be willing to bet a shoe-shine and valet-parking that most any “willing” hotel could make this gargantuan list.

Maybe I’m just being cynical.

In any case, two of our local standouts have made the list.  The Mirror Lake Inn and the Lake Placid Lodge both get a mention.  The Inn beat the Lodge by just shy of one point.  Clearly MLI’s superior PR tactics gave them the extra edge in beating what I would say is the nicest place within the Blue Line.  One thing for sure, I’ll take an 84 in Lake Placid over a 95 in India any day.

Villa Serendip, Lake Placid NY

For a variety of reasons, I should keep my mouth shut. Oh well.

In some previous post, I mentioned the selection of a new PR Agency of Record for our Empire State. If anyone has been following this stuff, even with a stable administration, there has been some big changes regarding state tourism marketing. New leadership, repositioning of the brand, Saatchi & Saatchi, etc. etc. Well, change is good, right?
