Yahoo Trip Planner Leads the Way

July 11th, 2006 · 1 Comment · Destination Marketing

It was just a matter of time before one of the giants put things together. Yahoo has revealed an incredible Trip Planner which integrates their popular photo-sharing application Flickr and Yahoo Maps. While still in the early stages, I believe this sets the stage for further development of these Web 2.0 information verticals within the travel niche.

Right now there are over 15,000 trips available to browse! Most revealing is their open invitation to travel professionals to upload their own Trip Plans. What next? My first impression is that this is going to be big. What DMO wouldn’t love an API so they could display Flickr photos and Trip Plans created by themselves and select (read:paid) community members.
